About the experience
At low tide the coral reefs form pools of warm, clear water just minutes from the beach. You can get there the traditional way, aboard a jangada raft with a local boatman, or on one of the catamaran trips arranged by the hotel.
What to expect
The jangada leaves from the shoreline and sails over the shallow sea to the reef barrier. Out there the water is waist-deep in many spots, so you can walk, float and watch fish up close. The boatman knows every channel and picks the best spot of the day.
The tide is in charge
The pools only appear at low tide — the lower the tide, the clearer and calmer the water. That is why times change every day. Before booking, check our tide table or ask reception for the best day of your stay.
Protected nature
The reefs are part of the Costa dos Corais Environmental Protection Area, Brazil's largest federal coastal marine conservation unit. Don't stand on the coral, don't feed the fish and choose a reef-friendly sunscreen.
