About the experience

Japaratinga lies at the heart of the Coral Coast, a stretch of shoreline between Pernambuco and Alagoas where a reef barrier runs alongside the beach and keeps the sea calm, warm and crystal clear.

01

A reef that follows the coast

The coral barrier runs parallel to the beach and breaks the waves before they reach the sand. That is why the sea between the reef and the shore is so calm — perfect for swimming, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding.

02

The Costa dos Corais protected area

Created in 1997, the Costa dos Corais Environmental Protection Area is Brazil's largest federal coastal marine conservation unit. It protects reefs, mangroves and species such as the West Indian manatee.

How to enjoy it
