About the experience
South of Japaratinga, the Ecological Route links Porto de Pedras and São Miguel dos Milagres along a road through coconut groves, fishing villages and some of Northeast Brazil's most unspoiled beaches.
Postcard beaches
Wide stretches of white sand, coconut palms leaning over the sea and natural pools at low tide. The route is known for its relaxed pace and charming hotels.
The West Indian manatee
Porto de Pedras is home to one of the best-known spots for watching and protecting the manatee, an endangered species that lives in the region's rivers and mangroves. Visits are made on rowed jangadas with local guides.
Churches and villages
Along the way you'll find historic little churches, fishing villages and beachfront restaurants serving fresh fish and tapioca. Take your time and stop wherever you like.
